The story behind Famewall

I began building a lot of businesses 1.5 years ago but ended up facing failures in a lot of them (Full story describedΒ here) At that time I had a cofounder, hence I thought we could focus on building distribution first before monetizing users, but the experiment ultimately failed as it was hard to build a community based business while fully bootstrapped.

After all these ventures, I knew I wanted to build my own business as I loved interacting with customers & seeing them use something which I made of nothing. The only missing piece was to find the intersection of, what would people pay for & what I was good at. SaaS products were extremely welcoming on that front since I could create value for customers while also building a living out of it.

So I went into brainstorming sessions finding what be an aspect in business which would remain the same for 10 years. The activities involved in user onboarding came into my radar. A business will have to onboard customers delightfully to let them have a pleasant experience & create a good impression, no matter how many years pass by.

And there’s no better way to delight customers than by showing social proof of experiences shared by other customers. Enter Famewall – A tool to collect & embed social media, video testimonials on customizable walls which can be embedded on landing pages in under 1 minute with no-code!

I did try out a lot of testimonial tools but found that they were quite slow & had limited customization options, brand appeal. I wanted to innovate entirely on that front & have been actively working on it, ever since πŸ™‚

The ultimate vision for Famewall is to make user onboarding seamless with testimonials while also removing the friction for businesses in having to collect & manage testimonials.

The story behind Llama Life

To say I love productivity tools is an understatement! I love understanding the systems behind tools, and the habits and psychology people use to get things done.

I built Llama Life because I was diagnosed with ADHD about 10 years ago and ever since then have been trying to find solutions to help increase my focus and get work done.

But I just couldn’t find a tool that worked the way I wanted it to. I found plenty of tools that helped me MAKE lists, but I wanted something that would actually help me work THROUGH my list.

I discovered that setting a fixed amount of time for each task gave me a strange sense of calm. It also gave me the mental space to focus on ONE thing at a time. And this is what Llama Life is designed to do!

With Llama Life, my end goal was to create something that would provide you with a feeling of calmness and control (and also fun!). I hope I’ve achieved this. Thanks for checking it out, and if you have any feedback or feature requests you can find me on Twitter @threehourcoffee or drop me an email at hello@llamalife.co.

PS – As for why it’s called Llama Life…well, that comes from a trip I did to Peru in 2018. I was lucky enough to visit a small village, and chat with some of the locals there. They had no electricity or running water, but damn they had a lot of llamas! At the time, one thing that stuck me was how peaceful, calm and content they all were, and when it came to naming this app, I wanted to replicate that feeling. And so…β€œLlama Life” was born.
